What we'll do
We teach Fine Art drawing and painting with materials provided for students aged 7- 16 years, we focus on teaching and learning traditional techniques. have a high ratio of 5 students per teacher as we specialise in individualised learning, making our classes suitable for students of all levels and a wide range of abilities. We do not accept kids younger than 7 as our method of teaching and learning requires the developmental milestones of fine motor skills and ability to focus and stay seated normally reached by age 7.
We thoroughly recommend booking more than one session during a holiday period as more often than not kids can be disappointed at having to wait until the next holiday class to complete their work, creating fine art paintings can generally take a minimum of 6 sessions to complete, some students take less and others take longer. Please be aware we teach Fine Art, our core values are to teach traditional drawing and painting techniques in a simplified way for kids to follow and to encourage our students to appreciate that great works of art take time, hard work, focus and determination to overcome difficulties. Our students greatly appreciate this as the rewards of their outcomes always surpass their expectations. Our class is not suitable for those looking for creative play and fast outcomes, do explain to your children before attending that works are only taken home once completed to avoid their disappointment.
SEnd
At Hackney Fine Arts we are committed to educate students from a range of needs, abilities, backgrounds, and identities. People learn and enrich their abilities to think critically and creatively when all learners' abilities and attributes are embraced, and people are enabled to have conversations across difference.
Inclusive education values diversity and the unique contributions each student brings to the classroom. In a truly inclusive setting, every child feels safe and has a sense of belonging.
Please be aware our curriculum is based on learning and applying traditional drawing and painting techniques which requires sustained focus, application, and attention to detail. We work with an SEND teaching assistant to support children who benefit with specialist help.
The classes currently on offer might be unsuitable for some children regardless of their ability and needs due to their technical nature. At present we do not offer one to one support. Our teachers work with 5 students and our SEND teaching assistants work with up to 3 students. We do not deliver art classes based on creative play.
We are committed to working with you and will do all we can with resources currently available.
If you are a parent of an SEN child please click on buy tickets and book for afternoon sessions at Main Building studio only. We'll allocate a teaching assistant to help support your child's needs.
Please note dyslexic students do not need SEN support at our class.
Please email us to be added to our SEND mailing list.
