OUR KIDS & TEENS COURSES

What we do:

We teach traditional fine art drawing and painting techniques, our core values are to teach the finest technical standards in a step by step, easy way for kids to follow. We encourage our students to appreciate that great works of art take time, hard work, focus and determination to overcome difficulties. Our students greatly appreciate this as the rewards of their outcomes always surpass their expectations.

We have a high ratio of 5/6 students per teacher as we specialise in individualised learning, making our classes suitable for students aged 7 to 16 of all levels and a wide range of abilities. We do not accept kids younger than 7 as our method of teaching and learning requires the developmental milestones of fine motor skills, ability to focus and stay seated normally reached by age 7. Our classes are aimed at students who are passionate about learning how to make great art.

Since our expansion in September 2022 we have more availability than in recent years, please click the orange button, you will be redirected to fill out our Google form and will be added to our mailing and waiting list. We will contact you when a space becomes available. To meet the high demand we run holiday classes throughout all school holidays besides from Christmas, these classes are longer in duration: two and a half hours. Please be aware that the holiday classes sell out very fast so it’s best to book early.

Inclusion: Special educational needs & diversity

At Hackney Fine Arts we are committed to educate students from a range of needs, abilities, backgrounds, and identities. People learn and enrich their abilities to think critically and creatively when all learners' abilities and attributes are embraced, and people are enabled to have conversations across difference.

Inclusive education values diversity and the unique contributions each student brings to the classroom. In a truly inclusive setting, every child feels safe and has a sense of belonging.

Please be aware our curriculum is based on learning and applying traditional drawing and painting techniques which requires sustained focus, application, and attention to detail. We work with an SEND teaching assistant to support children who benefit with specialist help.

The classes currently on offer might be unsuitable for some children regardless of their ability and needs due to their technical nature. At present we do not offer one to one support. Our teachers work with 5 students and our SEND teaching assistants work with up to 3 students. We do not deliver art classes based on creative play.

We are committed to working with you and will do all we can with resources currently available.

We ARE expanding our provision in September 2022 to meet the high demand for our kids & teens courses
